Pappadums are crisp, thin flatbreads originating from the Indian subcontinent. They are a staple accompaniment in Indian, Sri Lankan, and Nepalese cuisines. Traditionally made from lentil flour and spices, these savory wafers are dried. Then cooked by roasting or frying until beautifully golden and crunchy.
Light and flavorful, pappadums are commonly served as a snack, appetizer, or side dish alongside chutneys, pickles, and richly spiced curries. Their satisfying crunch and mild flavor also make them ideal for dipping into sauces. Or try crumbling them over rice and vegetable dishes. Whether part of a festive meal or enjoyed on their own, pappadums add authentic texture and taste to any South Asian-inspired meal.
